Description

Best for: Back squats, lunges and step-ups, where the bar sits across your upper back.

Squats and lunges are hard enough without the bar pressing into your neck and upper back. This wraps the bar in thick, contoured foam so the load sits on muscle instead of bone, which is the difference between stopping a set because your legs are done and stopping it because the bar is digging in.

Two builds, pick by how you train.

  • Foam Pad β€” a one-piece sleeve. It slides on and off the bar in seconds, so you are not wrestling it between sets or leaving it on for the next person. The quicker option if you share a bar or move between racks.
  • Padded Wrap β€” opens flat and closes around the bar with hook-and-loop straps. Takes a few seconds longer to fit, but it cinches tight so it cannot rotate at all, and it packs flat into a gym bag instead of holding its tube shape.

Both use high-density foam with a wipe-clean cover and both fit standard and Olympic bars. The wrap is the one to choose if you have had a pad spin on you mid-set; the sleeve is the one to choose if you value getting on with the session.

They work for hip thrusts too, though both are shaped for the bar across your back. If hip thrusts are your main lift, the wide pad is the better buy.

One thing to keep in mind: any pad raises the bar slightly off your back, so your first set after adding one can feel a little different in the groove. Take a lighter warm-up to settle in. Wipe it clean and keep it out of direct sun, which hardens foam over time.

  • High-density foam with a wipe-clean cover
  • Foam Pad: slide-on sleeve, five colours
  • Padded Wrap: hook-and-loop closure, five colours
  • Back squats, lunges, step-ups, hip thrusts
  • Fits standard and Olympic bars
  • Care: wipe clean, keep out of direct sun

Also in the lineup: Leather Barbell Pad if you want a wipe-clean leather cover; Wide Hip Thrust Pad for heavy hip thrusts.

Pairs well with: Quick Release Barbell Collars to keep plates locked in place. Add any 2 items and Buy 2, Save 20% comes off automatically.

Barbell Squat Pad in use at the gym

The Bar Stops Biting

Squats and lunges are hard enough without the bar pressing into your neck and upper back. That is what ends sets early, and it is a fixable problem.

The pad wraps the bar in thick, high density foam so the load spreads across muscle instead of pressing into one line.

You stop when your legs are done, not when your traps have had enough.

Dense Foam That Holds Its Shape

The foam is dense enough to hold up under heavy loads while still contouring to the body, so it does not compress flat on the first rep the way thin pads do.

The ergonomic shape sits snug rather than rolling out of place while you set up.

Wipe it down after training and keep it out of a hot car, which is what breaks foam down over time.

Built For The Bar On Your Back

It is shaped for the bar across your upper back, so squats, lunges and step-ups are what it is built for.

It covers hip thrusts in a pinch, but if those are your main lift the wide pad spreads the bar further and is the better buy.

A non slip inner surface and a secure closure stop it rotating mid set, which is the failure that makes cheap pads useless.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit my bar?

It wraps standard Olympic bars and closes around the section you use, so it fits the bars you find in most gyms.

Does it slide during a set?

The non slip inner surface and the secure closure keep it in place, which is the failure mode that makes thin pads useless.

Can I use it for hip thrusts?

You can, but it is shaped for the bar across your back. If hip thrusts are your main lift, the wide hip thrust pad spreads the bar further and is the better buy.

How thick is the foam?

Thick, high density foam, chosen to stay supportive under heavy loads rather than compressing flat on the first rep.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the outer surface with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Keep it out of a hot car, which is what breaks foam down over time.
