Gym Chalk Ball - Low-Mess Lifting Chalk for Grip
Gym Chalk Ball

From $14.99

Description

Regular straps can loosen. Figure 8 straps can not. One loop goes over the hand, the other wraps under the bar and back up, and the shape itself locks you to the bar until you let go of it. That makes them the strap of choice for the heaviest pulls: max deadlifts, rack pulls, heavy shrugs and farmer's carries.

These are 7 mm thickened cotton, stiff enough to hold their shape and soft enough on the wrist for long sessions. There is no buckle and nothing to adjust: put them on, set the lower loop under the bar and pull. They stay on the bar through the whole set, which is exactly why you will want to save them for your heaviest work.

One size, cut to fit most wrists. The larger sizes on the market run big even for big hands, so we only carry the one that actually fits. Practice the wrap with an empty bar first; it takes a few tries before it feels quick. Worth knowing before you buy: because they lock you to the bar, you cannot bail mid-rep the way you can with a lasso strap, so they belong on deadlifts and carries rather than on anything you might need to drop in a hurry. Hand wash cold and air dry.

  • Material: 7 mm thickened cotton

  • Use: deadlifts, rack pulls, shrugs, farmer's carries

Lifter using black figure 8 lifting straps on a heavy barbell deadlift

Built For The Heaviest Pull

On a max deadlift or a heavy rack pull, grip is usually the first thing to go. Figure 8 straps take it out of the equation, so the set ends when your back and legs are done.

Save them for your top sets and keep training your grip on the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size should I get?

One size, cut to fit most wrists. The larger sizes on the market run big even for big hands, so we only carry the one that actually fits.

How are these different from regular straps?

Regular straps wrap around the bar and can loosen. Figure 8 straps lock your hand to the bar until you take them off, so they are best for very heavy pulls.

Can I use them on pull-ups or rows?

Rows yes, pull ups no. The figure 8 locks your wrist to the bar, which is what you want on a heavy deadlift, a shrug or a rack pull where the bar never leaves your hands. On pull ups you need to be able to let go, so use a lasso strap or your bare hands there.

Do I get one or two?

You get a pair, one for each hand.

How do I clean them?

Hand wash in cold water and let them air dry.
